What each line includes

Entries and tours

Budget (THB 4,600, about ₹13,200): the Grand Palace (THB 500 × 2), a Coral Island (Koh Larn) day trip with lunch and a water activity at about THB 1,000 × 2, and the Alcazar cabaret show at about THB 800 × 2. Prices for Coral Island and Alcazar vary by seller and seat class; we saw roughly THB 800–1,200 for each.

Mid-range (about THB 7,600): the same, plus Safari World with Marine Park. Counter prices are about THB 1,500 per adult, and online tickets are often around THB 1,000.

Premium (about THB 15,000): private guided temple tours, a speedboat island trip from Pattaya, VIP show seats and a Chao Phraya dinner cruise.

Stay

Our planning rates are about THB 1,000 a night for a clean 2–3 star hotel, THB 2,800 for a 4-star and THB 8,000 for a 5-star. Late December and early January can be 40–80% higher in both cities.

Food

Thailand is easy on a budget: a street-food dish costs THB 40–100, and Indian restaurants in Pratunam, Sukhumvit and Pattaya charge THB 200–400 for a meal. Vegetarians should learn the phrase "mai sai nuea sat" (no meat) and ask for no fish sauce. Our budget line is about THB 400 per person per day, mid-range THB 700 and premium THB 1,750.

Flights from Delhi to Bangkok

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has more Bangkok flights than any other Indian city, with non-stop services on IndiGo, Air India, Thai Airways and Thai AirAsia X among others. The flight takes about 4h 10m, and Bangkok is 1h 30m ahead of India.

A route tracker showed the lowest one-way fare on 8 October 2026 at US$148 (about ₹14,250) on IndiGo for 22 November 2026. Our table uses about ₹22,000 per person return for a careful booking and ₹30,000 for good timings and full baggage. Christmas–New Year fares can double.

Most Delhi flights leave late at night and land in Bangkok early in the morning. That saves a hotel night but makes Day 1 tiring, so plan only a light evening. Some low-cost flights use Don Mueang (DMK) rather than Suvarnabhumi (BKK); both work for Pattaya, but check your airport before booking a transfer.

Do Delhi travellers need a Thailand visa?

No, for now. Indian ordinary passport holders can stay up to 30 days visa-free for tourism under the rule in force from 15 September 2026. You must fill in the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 3 days before arrival, only on the official tdac.immigration.go.th site. Carry a return ticket, a hotel booking and proof of funds in case immigration asks.

Thailand changed its entry rules several times in 2025 and 2026, so check the Royal Thai Embassy site just before you fly. Our Thailand visa for Indians guide lists the documents in full.

Getting around Bangkok and Pattaya

In Bangkok, the BTS Skytrain costs THB 17–65 a trip, or THB 150 for a one-day pass. River ferries on the Chao Phraya are the cheapest way to reach the Grand Palace and Wat Arun. In Pattaya, shared baht buses (songthaews) run a loop on Beach Road and Second Road for about THB 10 per person; pay in coins when you get off. Grab works in both cities and is easier with children or bags.

Best time to visit Thailand from Delhi

Bangkok and Pattaya by season
MonthsWeatherPricesVerdict
November–FebruaryCoolest and driestHighest; peak at Christmas–New YearBest overall
March–MayHot and humid; Songkran mid-AprilMediumFine for short trips, plan indoor afternoons

For Delhi families, the winter school break (usually the first two weeks of January) and the Diwali week are the busiest and most expensive windows. Late November or February gives the same weather at lower fares.

How to cut the Thailand trip cost from Delhi

  1. Book midweek flights. Route trackers show midweek fares below weekend fares on Delhi–Bangkok.
  2. Take the bus to Pattaya. At about THB 150 a seat, two people save more than THB 1,000 each way against a private car.
  3. Buy the BTS day pass on sightseeing days. At THB 150 it pays for itself after 3–4 rides.
  4. Use river ferries for the temples. They avoid Bangkok traffic and cost a fraction of a taxi.
  5. Compare tour prices in Pattaya. Coral Island trips and show tickets bought locally or online are often cheaper than add-ons sold with a Delhi package.
  6. Eat street food and in Pratunam. A full meal can cost THB 60–100.
  7. Use only the official TDAC site. The card is free; look-alike sites charge for nothing.

Our recommendation

For most couples and friends' groups from Delhi, 6 days split 2+3 between Pattaya and Bangkok is the right length. With visa-free entry and a 4-hour flight, a careful couple can do it for about ₹1 lakh. If you are deciding between Thailand and Bali, read our Bali vs Thailand guide.
