Goa trip cost from Mumbai: 4 days for two in 2026

A 4-day Goa trip cost from Mumbai for two adults comes to about ₹21,000 on a budget (overnight train, simple rooms), ₹60,500 mid-range (flights, a comfortable 3-star) and ₹1,33,100 premium, including a 10% buffer. Non-stop flights take about 1h 05m–1h 15m, the Vande Bharat reaches Madgaon in under 8 hours, and November to February is the main season. Avoid 23 December to 1 January if you want these prices.

Key takeaways

  • Plan about ₹10,500 per person by train, or about ₹30,000 per person flying mid-range.
  • Vande Bharat 22229 does not run on Fridays; Tejas 22119 does not run on Mondays or Thursdays.
  • Mumbai–Goa flights land at Dabolim (GOI) or Mopa (GOX); for Calangute, Mopa is about 31 km away and Dabolim about 48 km.
  • Rooms booked for 23 December–1 January at the government's Calangute Residency are non-refundable, so plan the festive week early.

How each line is built

Travel

Budget: the Konkan Kanya Express (20111) in 3AC at about ₹1,115 per person each way, so ₹1,115 × 4 = ₹4,460. You board in Mumbai late at night and wake up in Goa, which saves a hotel night's worth of time.

Mid-range: four flight sectors at about ₹5,000 each. The lowest one-way fares we saw for 1–22 November were about ₹4,020–5,224, and a fare with checked baggage at a sensible hour is usually a little higher, so we use ₹5,000.

Premium: flexible flights at good times, about ₹8,000 a sector, which is typical when booking two to three weeks ahead in season.

Stay

Budget assumes about ₹2,000 a night for a clean guesthouse a few minutes from the beach. Mid-range assumes about ₹5,000 for a 3-star with a pool. Premium assumes about ₹15,000 for a beach resort.

A useful fixed reference is the Goa Tourism Development Corporation's (GTDC) Calangute Residency: ₹3,400 for a cottage up to ₹5,350 for a resort-front suite, before GST and without breakfast, valid until 22 December 2026. GTDC's Margao Residency costs about ₹1,800–3,150 and Panaji Residency ₹4,750–5,150 a night before GST.

Getting around

Goa has little useful public transport for visitors. GTDC says non-geared scooters cost about ₹200–500 a day and geared bikes ₹400–1,000. App cabs on GoaMiles charge about ₹21.50 a km for a hatchback, ₹23 for a sedan and ₹26 for an MUV, plus time charges and taxes. The budget line assumes a scooter and one station transfer each way; mid-range uses cabs for longer trips; premium hires a car with driver.

Food and activities

A beach-shack dinner for two at a popular Baga shack is listed at about ₹2,100, while a fish thali or veg thali at a local restaurant costs ₹150–300. Water sports at Baga and Calangute cost roughly ₹800–1,500 for parasailing, ₹400–800 for a jet-ski ride and ₹1,400–2,500 for a five-activity combo. These are vendor prices, so ask about ride time, taxes and life jackets before you pay.

Konkan Railway's 2026 monsoon timetable ran from 15 June to 20 October, so trips from November use the faster regular schedule. Some booking sites still show monsoon timings; check your date on NTES or IRCTC before booking.

North Goa tip: going to Calangute or Baga? Get off at Thivim (about 16 km from Calangute) or Karmali (about 25 km), if your train stops there, instead of riding on to Madgaon, which is in South Goa.

Flights: non-stop flights take about 1h 05m–1h 15m. Air India Express flies to both Dabolim (GOI) and Mopa (GOX), and other airlines also split between the two. Mopa is nearer North Goa beaches; Dabolim is nearer South Goa, Vasco and Margao. Always check which airport is printed on your ticket before booking a hotel transfer.

Bus and road: the road is about 588 km by the bus route, and redBus lists an average bus journey of about 15 hours, with departures from 06:30 to 23:50. Fares range from ₹399 for a basic seater to several thousand rupees for a sleeper at peak times. By car, NH66 along the coast takes 10–12 hours with stops. When does a Goa trip from Mumbai cost the most?

November to February is peak season, with temperatures of about 21–32 °C. The most expensive week is 23 December to 1 January: GTDC treats it as a non-refundable booking period, and private hotels and flights often cost two to three times their November price. Long weekends and the Diwali week also fill up from Mumbai.

For the lowest prices with good weather, aim for early November, mid-January or February. Read the best time to visit Goa for a month-by-month view.

How to cut the Goa trip cost from Mumbai

  1. Take Konkan Kanya overnight in 3AC. At about ₹1,115 each way, it costs far less than flying and gives you a full first day.
  2. Pick the right station. Thivim or Karmali for North Goa saves a long taxi ride from Madgaon.
  3. Check the airport code before booking a flight. Landing at the far airport for your hotel means a longer, costlier taxi.
  4. Rent a scooter if you ride. At ₹200–500 a day it is the cheapest way around, but only with a valid licence and a helmet.
  5. Avoid 23 December–1 January. The same room often costs much more and can't be refunded.
  6. Compare the Vande Bharat chair car (₹900) with economy flights. On non-Friday dates the train can be the better daytime deal.

Our recommendation

For most couples and friends from Mumbai, the overnight Konkan Kanya and a North Goa guesthouse make a 4-day trip for about ₹21,000 for two. If time matters more than money, fly to the airport nearest your hotel and budget about ₹60,000.
